Micralite Toro Stroller
By Jodi Burnett
The Micralite Toro is one hot cookie, and once you get a taste of what it can do, you may be craving one yourself. Aside from looking fabulous, the Toro is versatile with it’s capability of growing with your child.
Features:
- 3 position seat
- Lightweight aluminum frame
- Unique one handed fold
- Extremely maneuverable
- Pneumatic rear tires
- Waterproof 1680D woven fabric
- Under seat shopping basket
- Complete with protective foot boot
- Adjustable handlebars
- Flip out sun visor
- Removable bumper bar
- Maxi-Cosi carseat adaptors
- Foot boot, net bag, rain cover, car seat adaptors and air pump are included with stroller
The lightweight aluminum frame is compatible with the Maxi Cosi Cabrio car seat, the Micralite newborn Carrycot, or (with a separate converter kit) works with other car seats as well. As your child grows, your baby will use the outward facing 3 position seat to enjoy the view. The cushy seat has a padded bumper bar perfect for hanging toys; however many parents of preschoolers found this to be a pain. Thankfully the bar is removable.
Urban parents praise the Toro’s ability to squeeze through tight spaces, such as small apartment elevators, or jam packed clothing racks.
The Micralite Toro has a unique design; the back air filled tires are larger and closer together than the front, so getting the right stride may take some getting used to. The “U” shaped handle can change positions though, so those with a longer stride can try turning them outward giving your feet a little more space. The “U” makes driving with one hand (or finger) a snap, but don’t think about storing anything on the back. Because of the lightweight frame, any weight on the handle bars (such as a diaper bag) can tip the stroller when baby is not inside.
The Toro features a single handed fold, however many users claim it is only a “true one handed fold” after several months of breaking in. One big plus: this stroller folds and stores upright making it a lifesaver for subways or small apartment dwelling.
Pros:
- Looks great/several hot color choices
- Easy maneuverability
- Compact storage
- Grows with baby
- Can squeeze through tight spaces
Cons:
- Can’t put weight on the back
- No cup holder or tray for keys/phone etc.
- Storage basket is small
- Pricey MSRP $525
Bottom line: If you want a stroller that that turns heads, grows with your child, can skirt through crowded city streets, and at the end of the day folds compactly into a minute storage closet, this may be the stroller for you. If you need a jogger, or baby buggy/shopping cart, you may need to look elsewhere.
