Chicco Liteway Stroller
By Lydia Powers
Chicco appears to have done it again with the introduction of their lightweight Liteway stroller! Chicco stroller reviews on Target.com as well as Amazon.com appear to agree that this stroller is tough to beat among the competitors in the umbrella lineup!
As with any avenue through which you transport your child, you’re going to be concerned with one major thing: safety. Chicco has not neglected this fact, and has made sure that the Liteway stroller is sturdy as well as safe, boasting of a 5-Point Safety Harness.
Another huge benefit of this umbrella stroller is its seats’ ability to fully recline. This allows for the stroller to be used by a child up to 40 lbs. No longer will you need to purchase one stroller for your 6 month old, and one for your two year old. This one does the trick for both!
Under your child’s fully-reclining seat, you’ll be able to find a removable under seat storage basket. Not only does it store your personal items, but it also can be removed and used as a backpack. How cool is that?
There were only a couple of minor issues that customers found in relation to the Chicco Liteway Stroller.
The main issue was that users were dissatisfied with the design of the leg rest. Stroller reviews found that, because of its design, parents must unfold and possibly adjust the leg rest every time the stroller was opened. Although this isn’t a big issue, some parents found it inconvenient.
Finally, a couple of Chicco stroller reviews found issues with the stroller’s wheels being uneven. Although it is not determined if this is a universal problem, one user found that Chicco was happy to send them new wheels for their stroller.

I love this stroller and was thinking to purchase it, but for 17lbs, I don’t think its a lightweight.
I own this stroller and would agree that’s it is great overall. We haven’t had any problems with the wheel design, but one thing I don’t like is that the seat doesn’t sit up real straight (even in the highest position). Other than that though, we love the stroller.
I love this stroller. It has everything I need and more. Easy to use and stylish. But my only problem is that now that my child is a year old, the straps are a little tight around the legs when I buckle her in. Anyone else have that problem?
After trying out 3 other strollers (previous to this 2 prams) we’ve found the chicco liteway to be everything we were looking for..
Lightweight, easy to push and steer, folds as normal umbrella stroller and easthetically pleasing i would say the only cons are
the basket (which they cleverly tried to make a bag also)
and yes agreed L that the buckles are tight aroud her legs ESPECIALLY when i use the lambskin liner for the cooler months..
It also doesnt sit upright but she doesnt seem to mind all too much
A large sun canopy would have been appreciated but overall i’d say its perfect for travelling and very compact.
8.5/10
I am torn by two strollers and would really appreciate some advice… After reading the above comments i am a little unsure of this pram, it seems very practical but am wondering how practical it will be for my son when he is a little older. He is 9 months at the moment, we are going overseas in August for 2 months and i want to get something light weight and practical for someone who is travelling around Europe. The other pram i have been looking at is the Maclaren techno xt… I like the look of this (canopy, rain cover, also lightweight and reclines – although you need to use 2 hands to recline) but have pushed it around and it felt a little cheap for a stroller that costs a bit…. maybe it was just that particular pram? Any opinions???
Hi Roseann!
Thanks for your comment, I hope that I can help you!
To start off with – have a wonderful time in Europe! I just spent three months in Italy and it is incredible…however the streets are pretty old and pretty rough. I’m not sure where you’ll be traveling, but I would recommend you get something with some suspension.
You need suspension, but also something light! However, one thing you don’t have to worry about, it buses over there usually don’t make you fold up your stroller each time you ride.
I would say this chicco is probably not the way to go. Its an umbrella stroller and I don’t know if it would hold up to what you’ll need it to do.
Try these models: http://strollerreviews.net/stroller-reviews/zooper-stroller-reviews/
I would look at the Zooper Twist or Zooper Mambo Stroller.
If you still want something smaller try this Phil&Ted: http://strollerreviews.net/2010/01/06/the-new-phil-teds-smart/
Hope that helps out! Let me know how your stroller works out in Europe

I just found this article buried in the archives…might help you out with the challenge of Europe’s Public Transportation system! http://strollerreviews.net/2009/06/18/stroller-public-transportation/
I also am torn between 2 prams. The Chicco Liteway and tha Joovy Kooper. The Kooper has a very large canopy which is very nice to block the sun or rain. It also has 2 mesh pockets on the inside of the seat for your childs cup, toys, snacks etc.. It has 2 parent cup holders and a zippered pouch on the back of the canopy. However from reading other reviews they say the cup holders are good for water bottles but not much else. It holds up to 50lbs.compared to the Chiccos 40lbs. It reclines almost flat. The only downfall for me is the footrest is not adjustable. I haven’t decided yet but I think I am leaning more towards the Joovy Kooper. I hope this helps. Good Luck.
Hi Emily,
It sounds like you are pretty sold on the Joovy except for that one feature, so here are a few things I would suggest:
Try to figure out how long you would like to use this stroller. By the time your child is 50lb he or she may not spend much time in the stroller.
What are you more worried about? The weight or the space? The Chicco is an umbrella stroller, so it may not hold as much weight but this model is taller and the seat is deeper than the Joovy. So it would depend how tall your child is and how much room they’ll need.
If you’re looking for a compromise you can probably tell from the other comments that I can crazy about Zoopers!
This Zooper Mambo can hold 65lb AND has an adjustable footrest: http://strollerreviews.net/2010/02/16/zooper-mambo-stroller-2010/
You also might want to check out the Twist, Bolero, and Waltz: http://strollerreviews.net/stroller-reviews/zooper-stroller-reviews/ These strollers all hold 50lb + and some models have adjustable features.
Hope that helps! Let me know what you decide!

Hi Sarah! Thanks for your feedback on the strollers. I do agree I’m not sure how long my child will want to sit in the stroller. Right now I have a 2 1/2 year old who weighs 30lbs. and a 4mo. old who only weighs 13lbs.and currently I have the Graco Duo Glide Quattro Tour in Bombay, which I am happy with but my son doesnt always want to sit so I am really loking for something for my daughter to use on a daily basis. By looking at the Kooper and the Liteway at my local BRU the Kooper seems like a bigger seat, but from your comment I gathered it’s not. I am so torn!! Which in your opinion would be a better stroller for every day use for my daughter and an occasional ride for my son between the Kooper and Liteway? And do you know is the Kooper being discontinued because it is clearenced at our BRU? Thanks so much for your time!!!
Emily,
If you look at the dimensions of the strollers the Chicco is a little bigger, which may or may not translate into the size of the seat. If you’re able to test drive one then maybe see which you’re daughter feels more comfortable in.
Personally, I like the Chicco model better, but this is just my personal taste. The stroller’s weigh about the same and are very comparable. I would just strongly suggest testing them at your local BRU with your daughter in the seat. That way you can get a sense of how each model rides and what quirks you may not like.
I’m not sure about the Joovy, but I imagine its on sale because its the 2009 model.
If you decide on the Joovy I would recommend you check in out on Stroller.com. (http://www.stroller.com/joovy-kooper-umbrella-strollers.html) You can get free shipping – plus here is a coupon code for another 10% off (stroller10). And if you do get this stroller you get a free diaper bag too!
Hope this helps you out! Let me know what you decide on!!
