Mom Thoughts: Video Review of the Joovy Scooter

March 3, 2011

A video review of the Joovy Scooter stroller is one of the best ways to share features and personal thoughts. Not only can you get a up close and personal view of what the stroller has to offer, but you can see it with your own eyes. Sometimes pictures just don’t do enough justice. Before I share my personal review of this stroller let’s take a look at some of the features.

The stroller comes in 3 colors: black, orange and greenie. One of the best features about this stroller is the large canopy. It has a nice extension hood to keep the sun out of your child’s eyes and keep them cooler on hot summer days.  The multi-positional recline seat is padded and has a weight limit of 55 lbs, and there’s also plenty of head room for taller children. Another feature I absolutely love is the over sized basket. It’s huge with lots of room for carrying packages and you can still fit a diaper bag, too.  If I had acquired this stroller when my boys were infants the fact that it fits almost all Graco carseats (not gerber like I mentioned in the video- that was a blurp slip) is a huge plus! I have two of those and baby’s only stay so little and ride in them for so long.

This lightweight stroller also comes with a light weight price. Time to take a look at features for yourself in this Joovy Scotter stroller review.

One of the only complaints that I have about this stroller is that you have to remember to lower the seat before closing the stroller or it just doesn’t lay that flat. To close the stroller is a bit of a process that you have to get used to, but I’m willing to live with it for the comfort of my child and convenience of the fabulous stroller.

When you own a good stroller like the Joovy Caboose it only makes sense to add 3 of the most talked about and must have accessories. Joovy stroller moms know that having a few good accessories makes all the difference in their outings.  One of the top recommended is the Joovy Caboose parent essentials organizer.  The parent essential organizer allows you to keep all of your belongs up close and within reach.  You’ll get plenty of storage space with double zipper pockets, and additional pocket storage space along with the very convenient and much needed double cup/bottle holder.  This deluxe neoprene organizer is just what you’ve needed the whole time. Joovy Stroller organizer reviews say they can’t live without this organizer and they love that it puts their keys, money, and water bottle up front right where they can reach it. Joovy Caboose Accessory holder is available at Stroller.com for one of the lowest prices found on the net at $22.49.

The Joovy Ergo travel bag will make vacation travel with your Joovy Stroller worry free.  This bag is designed to fit the Joovy Ergo Caboose Sit and Stand stroller. The heavy foam padding and luggage steel frame will keep your stroller safe and clean when not in use and safe for on the go travel.  Has two wheels and an adjustable shoulder strap to offer easy carrying or pulling the stroller bag through airports terminals.

The Joovy caboose All season seat pad has a fleece seat side to offer warmth and insulate your baby in comfort for the cold weather months and a soft woven side can keep moisture away from your child skins during those hot sweaty warm weather days.  Joovy stroller owners say it’s a great concept and offers soft seating for their child. It’s a bit difficult to attach on but they work with it and find it useful.

Dorel Juvenile Group Recalls Nearly 800,000 Child Safety Seats for Harness Issues

March 3, 2011

On February 14, 2011 the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling nearly 800,000 child safety seats because of the harness locking and release button does not always return to its locked position. When a button is not in the locked position it can allow the harness adjustment strap to slip back through the adjuster as a child moves around in the seat and results in a loose harness, increasing the risk of being injured a crash.

What type of Infant safety seats are effected?

Select Infant, Booster, and Convertible child restraint systems which were sold as part of a stroller/carseat combo travel system and the single purchase stand alone seats.

Infant Child Restraints Micro and Onboard Included in this recall are:

  • Convertible Child Restraints Alpha Omega
  • Alpha Omega Elite
  • Enspira
  • Priori
  • Prospect
  • Vantage

The problem involves certain restraint systems with a Center Front adjuster for the safety harness  manufactured from May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009.  These include infant, convertible, and booster child restraint systems which were sold both as stand-alone seats or part of a stroller Car seat travel system.

In order to see if the model you own is included in this Safety recall you can find more information from Dorel including  a complete list of the models can be found here.

Solution Provided by DJG

DJG intends to provide consumers with a remedy kit consisting of a small tube of non-toxic, food-grade lubricant to be applied to the CFA to prevent sticking and allow it to properly engage the CFA strap. Instruction on how to apply the lubricant will be provided, along with a label to indicate that the repair has been completed.

Until you have taken important steps to fix the problem you must either use another car seat or should take proper cautionary measures to make sure the harness is properly adjusted and the lock/release button is fully in the locked position.  After adjustment, pull on the shoulder part of the harness to make sure it is secure and does not loosen. This will give you piece of mind and keep your child safe.

NHTSA began a formal investigation of this issue on March 5, 2010, and indicated it would continue to keep the investigation open to further evaluate the adequacy of the recall scope.

The Joovy Big Caboose Tandem Sit and Stand Double Stroller sure can make life simple for the mom with double trouble, meaning twins and an extra sibling. I mean let’s say you’re taking all three children to the park, and your third little toddler says, “Mommy, up!”  Well, not to worry because this stroller has just the spot for this little guy. This stroller also includes two universal car seat attachments that accommodate most of the major brands of car seats if you will, and the Big Caboose has a huge storage basket below and sealed bearing wheels to help you push heavy loads, and with three children on board, and a diaper bag they tend to get a bit heavy.  If you need that triple option then out of all the reviews I’ve read this is definitely a wise choice for a sufficient comfortable stroller.

I’Coo Pluto Stroller

December 23, 2010

by Kristina J. Petrella

I’m always on the lookout for the newest stroller or a way to streamline my strolling. That’s how I came across the I’Coo Pluto Stroller. The grey-green seat on the stylish aluminum frame just caught my eye for some reason. This stroller, while being an umbrella stroller basically, is a top-notch stroller.

As I said, it sports an aluminum frame and a large, spacious seat which can accommodate your child up to forty-five pounds.  The stroller actually weight tested to a whopping fifty-five pounds, but ultimately recommended for fifty-five pounds.  This stroller is also comes standard with an extra seat, a built-in bunting bag, an adjustable footrest, padded shoulder straps and a single-handed recline.  All of these perks make this stroller an exciting and feasible choice for any parent.

This is a six wheel stroller, meaning two wheels in the front of the stroller and four in the back, making mobility a non-issue–this stroller can handle sidewalks, curbs, etc., however I would not take it on rough terrain or on trails.  This stroller would definitely be relegated to city shopping, malls, and light walking.  Even so, the EVA wheels as well as the independent suspension for the wheels allow it to maneuver well over city terrain.  This stroller is available in black, brown, and grey-green.

The only drawback that I can see to this stroller is the price.  It normally lists for $372.00 which is a lot of money to be spending on an umbrella stroller, however at stroller.com, you can purchase this model for only $259.99 making it a much better deal.  Be sure to check out the other products by I’coo such as their stroller pads which are too cute!

Pros:

  • Aluminum frame
  • Large seat
  • Seats up to 45 lbs.
  • Adjustable footrest
  • Single-handed recline
  • Padded shoulder harness
  • Available in brown, black, and grey-green

Cons:

  • Weight tested to 55 lbs, but only recommended for up to 45 lbs.
  • List price of $372.00, BUT Stroller.com has it for $259.99
  • Small wheels, not for rough terrain
  • Weighs 15 lbs. when folded
